Cayman Ceremonial Jar
A unique original piece from a wide range of artefacts intended for ceremonial cocoa, chocolate dragees and original chocolates from Steiner & Kovařík. Individual cans are arranged in a set, in which they are processed in a wide range of variants - both thematic and technological.
The cans consist of two parts - an upper and a lower part.
At first glance, the greenish-brown color predominates on the can. However, the whole dose is dominated by the long body of the caiman. If the viewer first sees the fragments of the tail and legs on the two sides of the jar, he does not yet know what kind of animal it is. Maybe a look at the third side will tell, but everything is definitely resolved on the lid of the jar itself - that's where the caiman's body begins with its upper half.

Here this beautiful reptile is shown at rest in its classic position. The lower half of the body and long tail continue down the two sides of the jar shell. The body of the second lying caiman follows it. Stylized leaves and stones in ochre-green and gray tones give an idea of the real vegetation in which this reptile moves. At the same time, this stylization resembles the dark spots on a green cocoa bean. These spots are the basic building block of compositions on almost all cans. Whether it's stylized cubist cocoa beans - see Jaguar and Snake double cans, Man and Woman Lost in the Jungle, but also chameleons, forest frogs and freshwater fish. All of this is reminiscent of a stylized cocoa bean in its structure and, as a result, in its compact color. In this case, we can talk about the theme of a not very typical animal for Nosek, but nevertheless mastered in movement and in its natural environment in such a way as to catch the viewer's eye and at the same time bring several question marks in the first stage.
Technique: This biscuit tin begins with a pencil drawing on the so-called slag - laying out the composition of specific details. The work then continues by covering the pencil drawing with a melting color and later it is colored with metal chlorides - salts. This was followed by firing at 1,420 ˚C, typical for Karlovy Vary porcelain. The final color effect is achieved with surface colors fired at 820 ˚C. They are colors that correspond to the colors of the jungle and the cocoa fruit in the natural scale - green, ocher and brown tones.
Each piece is provided with the author's signature "BO.NO.2022" on the bottom of the jar between the so-called feet. From all the technological and craft procedures mentioned above, it is clear that this is an absolute hand-made and original creation - an author's work not only in terms of subject matter - content and theme, but also in terms of form - an atypical technological procedure and own processing. Academic painter Boris Nosek hereby guarantees the originality, originality and exclusive authorship of this work.
